Dear Friend and Supporter

March for Hope - 1 August 2009 - Save the Date and Spread the Word!

You are warmly invited to join us on a March for Hope on Saturday 1 August 2009 from Warmwood Scrubs Prison to Wandsworth Prison, to help bring hope to prisoners in Kenya.

Would you like to join us on March for Hope to help Philemon Kenya share God's love and concern with prisoners and ex-prisoners? Can you think of anyone else who would like to join with us as well?

The Plan

Our plan is to start outside Wormwood Scrubs Prison in Shepherd's Bush at 10.30am and to "frog-march" together to Wandsworth Prison, where we will finish - and celebrate! The total distance is 6.9 miles, so it should take about 3 hours. Plans are afoot to find prisoner outfits and shackles, so we can go in pairs, with one leg shackled to another person.

If 20 people march with us and each person raises between £100-200, then we will together be able to raise £2,000-4,000, which will go an awful long way in Kenya.

It should be a fun day and, when we are finished, everyone is invited to nearby 22 Wontner Rd, Upper Tooting, SW17 7QT for refreshments.

The Need

Philemon Kenya are experiencing a period of growth and blessing, having distributed thousands of Bibles in prisons and seen hundreds of prisoners come to know Jesus as God and Saviour this year already. The Half Way Home is full and Philemon Kenya continues to have the privilege of influencing Government and policy makers on prison reform at the highest levels.

However, this work would not be possible without your generous help and support. In particular, Philemon Kenya have identified a pressing need for a ministry van to transport the Philemon Team from place to place, to save money and to use as a means of generating income and training ex-prisoners - our research shows that the vehicle should pay for itself in a short space of timePhilemon usually begs, borrows or hires taxis and "matatus" but the work has now grown to the point where the Philemon Team now need their own independent means of transport.

Please help us to raise the funds for the ministry van and for the Philemon work generally.

Marching / Giving / Prayer

If you are at all interested in joining us, we would love to hear from you. If you think you may know of others - perhaps some friends or colleagues or fellow church members - who would be interested in joining too, please do pass on the invitation.

If you are unable to come along but would like to support, then please do sponsor us at our JustGiving page, as every little helps:

Finally, please pray that the hope of the Gospel would come to be known and experienced by many prisoners and ex-prisoners in Kenya.

Many blessings and much love,
